How to fill out the Clone Town Survey online
The Clone Town Survey II aims to assess whether your town has transformed into a Clone Town, resembling many others, or remains a distinct Home Town. Completing this survey is straightforward and can be done while you explore your local high street.
Follow the steps to complete the Clone Town Survey online
- Click ‘Get Form’ button to obtain the form and open it in the editor.
- Begin by identifying the central area of your high street. As you walk, start recording the first 50 shops you see. Aim to include at least 40 but no more than 60 shops. Exclude services like post offices, banks, and public buildings from your count.
- For each shop you record, fill in the corresponding field on the survey form. You need to indicate the type of shop (e.g., food retailer, clothing store) and whether the shop is independently owned or part of a chain.
- After documenting 50 shops, you can calculate your town's Clone Town Britain score. Start by adding the total number of unique shop types you identified. Then, count how many of those shops were independently owned.
- Multiply the number of independently owned shops by 75, and then divide this total by the overall number of shops recorded to scale the score.
- Finally, add the total number of shop types to the calculated score to get your overall Clone Town Britain score.
- Once you have completed the survey, you can save your changes, download a copy of the form, print it out, or share it appropriately.
