The five major goals of the Sharia are the protection of sound religious practice, life, sanity, the family, and personal and communal wealth. The acknowledgement of sound local customs throughout the world is one of the five basic maxims of the Sharia ing to all Islamic schools of law.

Islamic Law Introduction. Quran. Hadith/Qawliyyah. Sunnah. Shi'a Hadith.

There are five different schools of Islamic law. There are four Sunni schools: Hanbali, Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanafi, and one Shia school, Jaafari. The five schools differ in how literally they interpret the texts from which Sharia law is derived.

Thus the basic articles of Islamic faith are: (a) belief in the oneness of Allah, (b) belief in the prophets and in the guidance that they bequeathed, (c) belief in the angels, (d) belief in the books, (e) belief in the Day of Judgment, and (f) belief in fate. Whoever professes these beliefs is a Muslim.

They are: 1) Qiyas, or analogical reasoning, and 2) Ijma, or consensus of the Islamic community on a point of law. ing to Sharia, sovereignty vests in God (Allah), requiring the state to act within the limits of divine law, or Sharia.

Traditional theory of Islamic jurisprudence recognizes four sources of Sharia: the Quran, sunnah (authentic hadith), qiyas (analogical reasoning), and ijma (juridical consensus).
