Small Professional Theatre (SPT): These are experimental contracts for cities in which there are existing pools of Equity members and area liaisons.

The TYA Agreement covers productions of plays expressly written, created or adapted to be performed for children. There are two forms of the contract: the weekly contract and the per-performance contract. Performances are generally done during normal school hours and are limited to two hours in length.

The contract is there to to protect the interests of both parties involved – you and the production company. There are two different types of acting contracts – the actor contract AND the model release (unless the two have been combined together under one document).

Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA): A contract for companies of adults performing theatre for youth, including touring and resident companies. Salary is $315 weekly min. or $47.50 to $62.50 a performance.

The Development Agreement is used for the development of new works, usually prior to an intended Production Agreement engagement. The agreement includes three contract tiers: Tiers 1 and 2 are limited to two weeks, with Tier 3 covering two to eight weeks. All three tiers offer pension and health benefits.

Equity agreements allow entrepreneurs to secure funding for their start-up by giving up a portion of ownership of their company to investors. In short, these arrangements typically involve investors providing capital in exchange for shares of stock which they will hold and potentially sell in the future for a profit.

Equity contracts for individual members usually cover jobs in three categories: Principal, Chorus and Stage Manager. The Principal contract is used for all principal actors and most stage managers. The Chorus contract is used for those actors who are primarily performing chorus work.
