Bury Hospice provides invaluable end-of-life care and support to our patients and their families. We serve our community and our community support and fund us, we could not survive without your support. Our team of volunteers dedicate over 35,000 hours of their time each year, saving the Hospice over £400,000 annually.

My vision for Bury Hospice is that we can continue to deliver the specialist care to the people of Bury who have a life limiting condition with the dignity and compassion they deserve. The Hospice values are Patient Centred, Community Focussed, enabling and inclusive.

Emergency referrals will be responded to within 24 hours whereas for non-urgent referrals, patients will be given information about St Christopher's and assessed by telephone within 14 days.

Who can make a referral? Any health and social care professional who know the patient can make a referral.

You may start palliative care at any stage of your illness, even as soon as you receive a diagnosis and begin treatment. You don't have to wait until your disease has reached an advanced stage or when you're in the final months of life. In fact, the earlier you start palliative care, the better.

A person's team may vary based on their needs and level of care. To begin palliative care, a person's health care provider may refer him or her to a palliative care specialist. If he or she doesn't suggest it, the person can ask a health care provider for a referral.

New diagnosis of life-limiting illness. Declining function with decreased ability to complete activities of daily living. Unrelenting, unexplained weight loss. Hospital admission from long-term care facility.
