However, this is a complex process of development, so the best way to understand this transition is to consider the stages a clinical learner goes through to become a competent healthcare provider.

A simulation technician is an individual who specializes in both the technologies and methods used in the planning, preparation, and execution of simulation-based healthcare training and education events. These individuals are essential members of every simulation team.

The Simulation Technician uses computers and audiovisual equipment to develop and facilitate equipment training for internal and external clients, both on-site and remotely.

Simulation Operator/Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating task trainers, mannequin-based simulators, and surgical simulators (at some sites) along with associated supplies and equipment. Primary duty locations are client's sites throughout the U.S.A.

A Patient Care Simulation Technician sets up, operates, and manipulates medical, multimedia, computer, and other related equipment used for patient care simulation exercises in a nursing and other allied health courses to create a virtual healthcare setting.
