The transcript legend is a copy of the information that appears on the back of the University of Waterloo official transcripts. The current legend, as well as the previous version, are available below. These may be more current than what is displayed on the back of the official transcript.

A transcript is an official document that shows the courses you have taken, the grades earned, and a cumulative grade point average (GPA). A transcript is not a diploma. Most colleges require that you submit a transcript, not a diploma, as part of the college admissions process.

In education, a transcript is a certified record (inventory) of a student throughout a course of study having full enrollment history including all courses (or subjects) attempted, grades earned and degrees and awards conferred.

An official transcript is a copy of your permanent academic record and includes: A list of the courses you took. The dates you attended the school. Your major and degree.

About your certificate and transcripts. A degree certificate is the official award document, confirming your degree. A transcript lists the titles, grades and credit values of the modules you studied and successfully completed in each academic year. Certificates and transcripts are always posted together.

A transcript key gives information on how to read grades, symbols, terminology and more on the transcript.

A transcript is an official summary of your academic performance and progress to date. It will only include final marks confirmed by the appropriate Examination Board. A transcript may be required by prospective employers or educational institutions to which you are applying.

The transcript will also list the dates during which you took certain classes. Grade point average. The transcript may also list your GPA as of your last semester of enrollment, or itemize a GPA for each semester.
