To be eligible for a homeowner tax rebate credit in 2022, you must have: qualified for a 2022 STAR credit or exemption, had income that was less than or equal to $250,000 for the 2020 income tax year, and. a school tax liability for the 2022-2023 school year that is more than your 2022 STAR benefit.

Enhanced STAR Exemption: The residence must be the primary residence of a taxpayer 65 years or older with an income that does not exceed $81,900. This assessment applies only to school district taxes.

Age eligibility Each of the owners of the property must be 65 years of age or over, unless the owners are: husband and wife, or. siblings (having at least one common parent) and. one of the owners is at least 65.

Normally, to be eligible for Enhanced STAR, all of the property owners must be at least 65 years of age. However, when property is jointly owned by a married couple, only one spouse needs to be at least 65 years of age.

Enhanced STAR provides an increased benefit for the primary residences of senior citizens (age 65 and older) with qualifying incomes: $92,000 or less for the 2022-2023 school year, $93,200 or less for the 2023-2024 school year.

The amount of the STAR credit can differ from the STAR exemption savings because, by law, the STAR credit can increase by as much as 2% each year, but the value of the STAR exemption savings cannot increase.

To be eligible for Basic STAR your income must be $250,000 or less. You currently receive Basic STAR and would like to apply for Enhanced STAR. You may be eligible for Enhanced STAR if you will be 65 or older in the calendar year in which you apply.

Enhanced STAR $92,000 or less for the 2022-2023 school year, $93,200 or less for the 2023-2024 school year.
