Follow the steps to complete your Lamidisc Coupling form efficiently.

  1. Press the 'Get Form' button to access the Lamidisc Coupling form and open it in your preferred online editor.
  2. Begin by entering the coupling type you require. Select from the different configurations, such as SX, CC, DO, or CX, based on your application needs.
  3. Next, identify the service factors for both the driven and driving machines. Reference the provided tables for accurate selection and input these values into the designated fields.
  4. Calculate the minimum torque rating using the formula provided on the form. Be sure to input the nominal power and the total service factor correctly to ensure accurate results.
  5. Review any misalignment criteria associated with the selected coupling type and input any expected axial, angular, and radial misalignments into the relevant fields.
  6. Confirm that the selected coupling meets or exceeds the necessary rated torque capacity and check if dynamic balancing is required.
  7. Finally, after completing all relevant fields, save your changes. You can choose to download, print, or share the completed form directly from the online editor.

Disc couplings are multi-piece flexible shaft couplings that are used to connect driving and driven shafts in mechanical power transmission assemblies. Flexible shaft couplings are used to counter the inevitable misalignment that occurs between connected shafts and in some cases function to absorb shock.

There are three basic types of elastomeric couplings: tire-type, sleeve-type and jaw-type. Tire-type and sleeve-type couplings operate in shear (versus compression) to absorb shock and protect equipment. The elastomeric flexible member in these couplings can deform in shear, displacing under a load.

However there are two main types of couplings (Fig 1) which are (i) rigid couplings, and (ii) flexible couplings. Rigid couplings are used for shafts having no misalignment.

Disc couplings come in two basic styles: the traditional style and the drop-in style. Traditional disc couplings feature five-piece construction with two hubs, one spacer and two flex discs along with hardware (Figure 1).

Metal disc coupling is a type of flexible coupling that transmits torque through disc packs. Torque is transmitted by driving bolts and pulling the operated bolts through thin metal discs assembled in a pack. Disc couplings are torsionally rigid.

Example of some flexible coupling types: Gear Coupling. Disc Coupling or diaphragm Coupling (LAMAFLEX COUPLING) Chain Coupling. Grid Coupling.

Types of Couplings Rigid coupling. Flexible coupling. Sleeve or muff coupling. Split muff coupling. Flange coupling. Gear coupling. Universal joint (Hooke's joint) Oldham coupling.

Torsionally stiff and still flexible, disc couplings are a great solution for high speed applications. The downside is that they are more delicate than the average coupling and can be damaged if misused. Special care should be taken to ensure that misalignment is within the ratings of the coupling.
