WaterSure is a scheme which helps some people with their water bills. To apply for the scheme, you must be on benefits and need to use a lot of water either for medical reasons or because your household has a certain number of school-age children.

If you have a water meter and you receive certain benefits (such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit or Pension Credit), you may be eligible for the WaterSure scheme. If you're on the WaterSure scheme, your bill is capped at a lower amount, regardless of how much water you use.

Having a water meter means you only pay for the water you use. So, that could either mean significant savings for your household, or bigger bills. If you don't have a water meter, it means you pay a fixed price for your water. It doesn't matter how much water you use, your water bill won't change.
