There are eight elements of a story: theme, plot, characters, setting, conflict, point-of-view, tone and style.

The setting is when and where a story takes place. In these setting worksheets, students read a short story and write / draw the setting.

I use my teaching skills of asking comprehension questions to check in with my students. But too often, I find myself relying solely on the 5 W's of comprehension questions: who, what, where, when, and why. I have found in my teaching that using the 5 W's works for some students.
