A conspirator, Decius Brutus, persuades him to go to the Senate with the other conspirators and his friend, Mark Antony. At the Senate, the conspirators stab Caesar to death. Antony uses a funeral oration to turn the citizens of Rome against them. Brutus and Cassius escape as Antony joins forces with Octavius Caesar.

In this scene, Caesar's wife, Calphurnia, has woken the house three times with nightmares about Caesar's death. Frightened by the meaning of these dreams and by other signs of doom, Calphurnia begs Caesar not to leave the house as she fears something bad will happen to him.

Act 2 Scene 2 The storm rages at Caesar's house. Like Brutus, Caesar has had a troubled night. His wife, Calphurnia, has dreamt about his murder three times. Other omens have been noted in the streets of Rome and Calphurnia begs Caesar not to go to the Capitol as she is afraid of what the signs mean.

Calpurnia's dream of the bleeding statue perfectly foreshadows the eventual unfolding of the assassination plot: the statue is a symbol of Caesar's corpse, and the vague smiling Romans turn out, of course, to be the conspirators, reveling in his bloodshed.

She saw in her dream that many smiling and robust Romans were bathing their hands in Caesar's blood. Calpurnia feared that such horrid omens and sights signalled imminent danger or death. So they had a symbolic significance.

Act 3, Scene 1 Metellus Cimber presents a petition to Caesar: he wishes to have his banished brother forgiven. Caesar denies him, bragging of his constancy. The other conspirators try to insist, but Caesar denies them all. Casca stabs him first, and the other conspirators follow, last of all Brutus.

ex: Brutus' conflicting feelings as to whether he should assassinate his friend, Caesar, for the good of the Roman Empire. struggle between a character and an outside force (nature, another character, society, etc.) ex: Conflict arises between Mark Antony and Brutus as Antony tries to avenge his fallen best friend.

In this scene, Caesar's wife, Calphurnia, has woken the house three times with nightmares about Caesar's death. Frightened by the meaning of these dreams and by other signs of doom, Calphurnia begs Caesar not to leave the house as she fears something bad will happen to him.
