Properties of religious, charitable, and educational organizations, as well as units of federal, state and local governments, are eligible for exemption from property taxes to the extent provided by law.

Taxpayers whose primary residence is a single-family home, townhouse, condominium, co-op or apartment building (up to six units) are eligible. First-time applicants must have been the occupants of the property as of January 1 of the tax year in question.

What is the long-term rental exemption? It is a real property exemption of up to $200,000 on a parcel that is occupied as a long-term rental for twelve (12) consecutive months or longer to the same tenant. The exemption will be effective January 1, 2022.

Most senior homeowners are eligible for this exemption if they are 65 years of age or older (born in 1957 or prior) and own and occupy their property as their principal place of residence. Once this exemption is applied, the Assessor's Office automatically renews it for you each year.

Properties of religious, charitable, and educational organizations, as well as units of federal, state and local governments, are eligible for exemption from property taxes to the extent provided by law.

The senior citizen homestead exemption is available to property owners over age 65 for the applicable tax year. Property taxes are paid one year after they are assessed. That means for the bills that are payable in 2023, the homeowner needed to be age 65 by December 31st, 2022, or before.

The Homeowner Exemption reduces the Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) of a property by $10,000. EAV is the partial value of a property used to calculate tax bills. It is important to note that the exemption amount is not the dollar amount by which a tax bill is lowered.

The Owner-Occupied Tax Reduction is a reduction of up to 2.5% in the taxes charged by qualified levies. The reduction is applied against real property taxes and manufactured home taxes on your principal place of residence.
