Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is the evidence-based model of care that helps caregivers focus on identifying the problems that are causing concerning behaviors in kids and solving those problems collaboratively and proactively.

Unsolved problems should contain no reference to the child's challenging behaviors. Unsolved problems begin with the words Difficulty and are followed by a verb. Unsolved problems should contain no adult theories. Unsolved problems should be split, not clumped together.

Plan B is comprised of three basic ingredients. The first ingredient – called the Empathy step – involves gathering information from the child so as to achieve the clearest understanding of his or her concern or perspective on a given unsolved problem.
