Delegation: A group of delegates, oftentimes representing a team of a university, or another MUN. Usually part of the same institution, and divided into different councils.

Youth delegates are the voice of young people and can play an unprecedented role in influencing a country's official position and can be instrumental in supporting and developing an approach to the negotiations that places the interests of youth as a built in part of their government's discussions.

Delegates should study arguments that are different from the one their assigned country is likely to take on a topic. Therefore, they need to analyse the facts that are used to support opposing arguments. Sometimes the same facts can be used to support two different positions on a topic.

There is no certain time that any delegate must give a speech. In fact, regardless of what type or size the committee is, it is essentially impossible to give a speech during every moderated caucus. With this in mind, delegates should be raising their placards when they know they can give a good speech.

MUN can be very difficult only if you are unprepared, haven't researched well and lack confidence. Research on your country well and be able to represent it. Remember, in an MUN, you are not a participant, you are a delegate, and therefore, you have to act as one. Be confident about your research.

How are members elected? Membership to the Council is open to all Member States of the United Nations. Members are elected by the General Assembly through individual and direct votes by absolute majority (97 votes). Ballots are secret and elections are held every year.

The delegation of a Member shall consist of not more than five representatives and five alternate representatives and as many advisers, technical advisers, experts and persons of similar status as may be required by the delegation.
