1 Perform a visual inspection of all aerial lift components, missing parts, torn or loose hoses, hydraulic fluid leaks, and replace as necessary. 2 Check to see if all oil, hydraulic, fuel and coolant are all at proper fluid levels. 3 Check the wheels tires for damage. Check the wheel lugs for tightness.

When inspecting the basic components of the lift: Check fluid levels for the oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel, and coolant. Look for fluid leaks. Make sure tire pressure is correct. Check the wheels for damage or loose lug nuts. Make sure the battery has a good charge.

Federal law requires individuals to inspect their aerial lifts every 150 hours or 90 days (3 months), whichever comes first. It is recommended that you place your aerial lift on a planned maintenance schedule based on your application and hours of operation.

Pre-use inspections are required before use of any equipment or work process that has a potential to result in an injury. The Pre-use inspection must be recorded in a daily log that is kept/or near to the equipment and has to be available for review.

Fuel, hydraulic and coolant levels should be properly checked. Steering and brakes should be working smoothly. Mechanical fasteners and locking pins should be checked properly. Warning devices such as alarms, lights, gauges, horns should be in working condition.

1. VISUAL CHECK OF EXTERIOR Make sure tires have proper air levels. Check for visible leaks. Ensure all labels, warnings and hazard signs are legible. Make sure all fasteners and locking pins are working. Check wiring and cable harnesses. Look for any loose or missing parts. Ensure guardrails are functional.
