In the United States and Canada, the band ranges from 50 MHz to 54 MHz. In some other countries, the band is restricted to military communications.

52.525 Mhz is the National FM simplex frequency on 6 meters. 52.490 and 52.510 Mhz are also used.

Sporadic-E: This is the most common propagation available for six-meter DX. Peaking around the solstices, this mode of propagation can provide contacts over a few hundred miles, a couple thousand miles, or even more with a double-hop.

Across all of North America, the National Simplex Frequency (also referred to as the calling frequency) is 146.52 MHz. In areas that use 15-kHz channels, the adjacent channels are 146.535, 146.550, 146.565 MHz, etc.
