Simulation Objectives: Participants will develop self-awareness around thoughts and attitudes toward people in poverty. Participants will identify social and cultural differences between self and people in poverty.

Dwell™ is a tabletop simulation game to teach about situational poverty and its impact on one's choices, health, livelihood, communities, and families.

Living a Month in Poverty... To start the simulation exercise, each family is given a card explaining its unique circumstances. It is then the families' task to provide food, shelter, and other basic necessities by accessing various community resources during the course of four 15-minute “weeks”.

A: Participants assume the roles of members of 26 real-life families facing poverty, which are taken from actual case studies. During the simulation, participants are tasked with providing basic necessities for themselves and their “families” during the course of four 15-minute simulated “weeks.”
