The oil draw-off consists of an adjustable pipe combination on the inside of the intercepting chamber, and a pipe connection from the internal adjustable standpipe of the side of the oil interceptor body to connect to an oil drain line from the oil inter- ceptor to an oil storage tank.

Oil interceptors separate oily waste from interior drainage systems or exterior run-off areas, preventing environmentally damaging and potentially dangerous oil substances from entering septic fields, run-off areas, and wastewater treatment facilities.

Calculate the volume in cubic inches of all the fixtures to be served by the Grease Interceptor. (length x width x depth = capacity) 2. * Eg: 15” x 24” x 10” = 3600 cubic inches.

Oil Interceptors are sized ing to the rate of incoming flow, in gallons per minute (GPM). For indoor applications, flow rate can be calculated by adding the maximum discharge rates of all poten- tial water sources. For example, a standard 3/4" hose connection will discharge approx. 10 GPM.

As a general rule, it is good practice to size the Interceptor so that its rated capacity is never less than 40% of the fixture capacity in gallons. In the example above, the actual fixture capacity is 59.8 gals., and 40% of this would be 23.9 gals. or a Fig. 8025.

As a rule of thumb, some experts recommend a ten minute retention time in a gravity oil water separator. To achieve this, the separator chamber should be sized at ten times the flow rate. For example, a 1,000-litre chamber is recommended for a flow rate of 100 litres per minute.
