Progress or Achievement Tests Achievement or progress tests measure the students' improvement in relation to their syllabus. These tests only contain items which the students have been taught in class.

Both measure cognitive ability of learners. However, performance test is teacher-made test or researcher-made test while achievement test is a standardized test mostly prepared by examination bodies.

Examples of Achievement Tests A test in your social psychology class. A comprehensive final in your Spanish class. The ACT and SAT exams. A skills demonstration in your martial arts class.
