11.3. 4.6 All competition targets must be placed at a uniform height relative to the level of the firing station of 1.40 metres ± 0.05metres.

The air pistol target is 17x17 cm with concentric score zones, the innermost (worth ten points) having a diameter of 11.5 mm. The distance from floor level to the centre of the target is 1400mm +/- 50mm.

Although velocity isn't regulated, per se, no 10-meter target rifle shoots a pellet faster than 600 f.p.s., with the average muzzle velocity being around 575 f.p.s. Velocity for rifles has declined since the 1960s, when the first true target air rifles were built.

Target frames must be of sufficient height to have the bottom of the target at least 48 inches above the ground (see exception below). Do not lean target frames against the berms. Plinking range only (10 yard pocket range): Maximum target height is 5 feet (60 inches); minimum height is 3 feet (36 inches).

Whereas the 10m Air Rifle target measures just 45.5 mm across (1.79 inches) and whose "10 ring" is just 0.5 mm in size (literally the size of a typed period), 10m Air Pistol features a larger target. The size of the Air Pistol target is 170 mm across and the center bull is 11.5 mm.
