Any person desiring to train as an apprentice in a barber shop must make application with the Georgia State Board of Barbers, and must be under the direct supervision of a licensed barber who holds a current Georgia license and has been licensed at least 18 months.

The amount of hours needed for a Master Barber license as an apprentice in Georgia is 3000 hours. If you are looking to obtain a Barber II license, which allows you to perform most barbering services, excluding chemicals, your need to accumulate 2280 hours.

Does Texas have a barber apprentice program? No. Applicants must complete 1,000 hours in an approved barber school or be licensed by reciprocity/endorsement from another state in which they hold a current barber license.
