The Medical Examiner of the County in which the death occurred has signed the release or has given verbal permission authorizing the cremation of the decedent.

In Tennessee, a death certificate must be filed with the office of vital records within five days of the death and before final disposition of the body.

In Colorado, there is a mandatory 24-hour waiting period after death before the cremation can be performed.
