the exact price of your goods in the currency you used to pay for them. the quantity or volume of your goods. your passport number or EU identity card number. the date and time of your arrival. a credit or debit card if you need to pay tax or duty.

Fill in the application forms and relevant annexure(s) as prescribed by the Customs and Excise Act. Submit certified supporting documents as listed on the relevant application forms. Nominate a registered agent by completing and sending the relevant form to Customs.

You must declare all items you purchased and are carrying with you upon return to the United States, including gifts for other people as well as items you bought for yourself. This includes duty-free items purchased in foreign countries, as well as any merchandise you intend to sell or use in your business.

It comes from the role of customs as a monitoring instrument in international trade and flows. In the international arena, customs plays an important monitoring role in checking the borders for contraband, smuggling and such other non-tax criminal activities. But they may also be tax related.

Always declare all goods in your possession. Produce receipts for goods purchased abroad including goods bought duty- free on aircraft or ships or in duty-free shops. If you are unsure of the value of goods which you should declare, ask for assistance from the customs officer on duty.

By making products more expensive, Excise Duty is supposed to discourage the consumption or waste of goods that are deemed to be harmful to consumers' health or damaging to the environment. Typically, Excise Duty covers alcohol, tobacco, and some energy products.

The Board of Customs, responsible for collecting duties levied on imported goods, and the Board of Excise, responsible for raising revenue from inland taxes, were both established in the 17th century.

They are 6-10 digit codes assigned to specific goods by customs authorities. These codes are used all around the world, making cargo easily identifiable and ensuring the seamless delivery of goods from Point A to Point B.
