The parties may stipulate without leave of court to one 15-day extension beyond the 30-day time period prescribed for the response after service of the initial complaint.

This form is only for requesting an extension of time to file a brief in an appeal in a limited civil case. Serve a copy of the completed form on each of the other parties and keep proof of this service.

A request for an extension of time to respond in California is authorized by Code of Civil Procedure section 1054(a) which allows a judge to grant an extension of tine not exceeding 30 days to respond to a complaint upon a showing of good cause.
