Every Residential Building Permit issued shall become invalid unless the work authorized by such permit is completed within 365 days from the issuance date of the building permit. The Building Official is authorized to grant, when request for extension is received in writing, one extension not to exceed 180 days.

Submit a Public Records Request to​ find out if there is an exisiting Certificate of Occupancy for the home or business location. It typically takes 3-5 business days to process. If there is no Certificate of Occupancy or permit history on file, please contact the PDD Ombudsmen team: pdd.ombudsman@phoenix.gov.
