Using a ruler, the score is determined by mea-suring the distance (mm) on the 10-cm line between the no pain anchor and the patient's mark, providing a range of scores from 0 100. A higher score indicates greater pain intensity.

They erroneously claim, as do others (2, 3), that an 11 point numerical rating scale (NRS) and a visual analogue scale (VAS) have equivalent formats and that both scales provide only ordinal but not interval or ratio scale measurement. Yet NRS and VAS are certainly not equivalent.
