Just like youth leagues have been popping up everywhere for flag football, it has also become a popular sport for college students and even adults. Many college intramural programs offer the sport with some schools offering it as a club sports. There are also many adult leagues that are becoming just as popular.

In flag football, players don't tackle each other, but snatch a piece of fabric a flag from an opponent's belt in lieu of tackling. Flag football is not a non-contact sport; players still block each other. But it's played without helmets and body armor and places an emphasis on speed and skill, rather than force.

The program is played on a 50-yard playing field where participants may run or pass the ball. Teams start at their 5-yard line and have three downs to move the ball past midfield. Once a team has crossed midfield they receive a new set of three downs to score.
