A formal document of certification, signed by the person responsible for packing designated dangerous goods into a container or loading onto a vehicle, which declares that the materials have been packed and stowed in compliance with the applicable regulations (IMDG or IATA).

The Dangerous Goods Declaration must be signed and dated by the shipper. Other persons employed to act on behalf of the shipper such as consolidators, freight forwarders and cargo agents may sign the DGD on behalf of the shipper.

The consignor (exporter) of the goods is responsible for signing the dangerous goods declaration (box 17), but the declaration under the container/vehicle packing certificate (box 15) must be signed by whoever is responsible for packing/loading the dangerous goods into the container/vehicle.

A Dangerous Goods Note (DGN) is a multimodal transport document that needs to be submitted for exports from the United Kingdom. The DGN contains important cargo (dangerous goods) and shipping information for the local authorities, forwarders, and respective supply chain stakeholders.

Note: Only people who are USDOT hazmat trained and IATA shipper certified should be packaging and signing off on the Shipper's Declaration. Individuals completing the Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods form must provide the full name, address, and telephone number of the shipper.

The dangerous goods note requires information regarding: The destination and loading port. Importantly, any shipping marks, including hazard labels, Proper Shipping Names and Packing Group information. A declaration as to the correct description of the goods transport. The tare weight and gross weight of the shipment.
