The current version of USP–NF standards deemed official by USP are enforceable by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for medicines manufactured and marketed in the United States. The current version, USP–NF 2023, Issue 1, will become official on May 1, 2023.

Revision Bulletins are published in USP–NF Online by the first of each month. Each Revision Bulletin includes a notice that provides the reason for the change and the official date.

The United States Pharmacopeia–National Formulary (USP–NF) is continuously revised. Revisions are presented three times a year in the USP-NF as Issues 1, 2, and 3, and as monthly Accelerated Revisions on the USP website. USP uses its Accelerated Revision processes to expedite revisions to the USP–NF.
