The limit for all awards in cases sounding in tort (other than in certain cases involving the operation of a State vehicle) filed pursuant to 705 ILCS 505/8(d) is $2,000,000.00.

735 ILCS 5/13-212 imposes a two-year statute of limitations on such claims. The statute begins to run on the date when a person (1) knew, (2) should have known, through the use of reasonable diligence, or (3) received written notice of the injury.

An individual filing a claim against Illinois must either: File a notice of the claim with the Attorney General and the Clerk of the Court of Claims within one year of the date when the injury occurred; or.
