What Is a Skilled Nursing Facility? A skilled nursing facility is an in-patient rehabilitation and medical treatment center staffed with trained medical professionals. They provide the medically-necessary services of licensed nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and audiologists.

201.2. Definitions. 201. SKILLED NURSING FACILITY (SNF) DEFINED. An SNF is an institution or a distinct part of an institution (see §201.1), such as a skilled nursing.

For each deficiency, the surveyor determines the level of harm to the resident or resident(s) involved and the scope of the problem within the nursing home. The surveyor then assigns an alphabetical scope and severity value, A through L, to the deficiency. "A" is the least serious and "L" is the most serious rating.

Nursing homes are legally permitted to evict residents under several conditions: if a resident's health improves sufficiently; if his presence in a facility puts others in danger; if the resident's needs cannot be met by the facility; if he stops paying and has not applied for Medicare or Medicaid; or if the facility ...

Long term care isn't meant to provide the same level of medical care as skilled nursing, but there will likely be access to medical practitioners should they be needed. Because long term care is more of a permanent residence than skilled nursing, it isn't typically covered by insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid.

CMS tags are small keywords that you attach to your blog posts, news releases, or other content that act like labels to tell your website browsers what it's about.

Skilled nursing care includes services such as administration of medications, tube feedings, and wound care. Keep in mind that SNFs can be part of nursing homes or hospitals.
