You can block spam calls by silencing all unknown callers on your phone, installing spam-filtering apps, and registering your number on the national Do Not Call Registry (call 1-888-382-1222 or 1-866-290-4236 for TTY callers).

Malicious, abusive or threatening calls, whether from people you know or from strangers, are a criminal offence. If you receive such a call you should immediately call your phone company and ask for their nuisance or malicious calls team. It doesn't matter whether you know the caller's identity or not.

Block calls from your phone Receive an unwanted call? You can: Press *61 to add the number of the last call received to your call block list. Press *80 to turn call blocking off.

How do I add my number to the Registry? Go to DoNotCall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236) from the phone you want to register. It's free. If you register your number at DoNotCall.gov, you'll get an email with a link you need to click on within 72 hours to complete your registration.

Report a nuisance call or text Forward the text to 7726 - this spells 'SPAM' on your phone keypad. This will report the sender to your mobile network company. You won't be charged for forwarding a text to 7726. Reporting nuisance calls or texts also helps regulators track down who's making them.
