The name Peachtree is super common throughout the Atlanta metro area. People even joke that if you make a right and two lefts' on any street in Atlanta, you will find a Preachtree street. In fact, there are 71 streets in Atlanta with some form of “Peachtree” in their name.

One Ninety One Peachtree Tower is a 235 m, 50-story skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia. Designed by Johnson/Burgee Architects and Kendall/Heaton Associates Inc, the building was completed in 1990 and is the fourth tallest in the city, winning the BOMA Building of the Year Awards the next year, repeating in 1998 and 2003.

Author Margaret Mitchell introduced the city and its most famous street to pop culture in her novel, “Gone With the Wind.” Sadly, she was killed by a speeding car in 1949 while crossing Peachtree Street as a pedestrian.

While Georgia may be the Peach State, there's more to the story than our signature fruit. All of the Atlanta-area streets called Peachtree can attribute their names to Peachtree Creek. It flows southwesterly through DeKalb and Fulton counties before joining the Chattahoochee River just south of Vinings.

In 2008, the section within the city limits of Chamblee was renamed to Peachtree Boulevard, to reflect the changing nature of the city. Prior to this change, the "industrial" name extended until Peachtree Road merges in near the city line with present-day Brookhaven.

From there, it runs north through Midtown to Buckhead where it undergoes a name change to Peachtree Road at the point that it crosses – what else – Peachtree Creek. About seven miles north, Peachtree Road splits. Most travelers today are familiar with the route to the left, where it becomes Peachtree Boulevard.
