FERS Immediate Retirement is the most common type of retirement under the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS). You are eligible for an immediate voluntary FERS Retirement if you have the right combination of age and years of creditable service. There are three combinations of age and service.

Regular (Immediate) Retirement Under FERS, an employee who meets one of the following age and service requirements is entitled to an immediate retirement benefit: age 62 with five years of service, 60 with 20, minimum retirement age (MRA) with 30 or MRA with 10 (but with reduced benefits).

Your original designation remains in force whether it still reflects your wishes or not, until you submit another form to cancel prior designations or to designate a new beneficiary. A designation of beneficiary form outlines your desire to have the funds due upon your death paid out in a particular way.

Unpaid compensation means the pay, salary, allowance, or other compensation due on account of the services of the deceased for the Federal Government. it includes, but is not limited to: ... B Lump-sum payment for all accumulated and current accrued annual leave to the employee's credit on the date of his death.

Write only one beneficiary on each line. Make sure that you write the full names of all beneficiaries. For example, if you name you children as beneficiaries, DO NOT merely write children on one of the lines; instead write the full names of each of your children on separate lines.
