The effects of the Bantu migration included a spread to other parts of Africa of new technologies like iron tools, farming techniques, pottery making, new foods, language, and an increase in people living together in villages.

The Bantu people migrated to South Africa mostly in search of new fertile land and water for farming (due to the Sahara grasslands drying up). However, other reasons, such as raiding tribes, overpopulation, and expanding kingdoms, have also been debated.

How did they change their techniques for herding in the savannas? Why did they change their technique for herding in the Savannas? It improved in the nutrients in the soil which allowed more stuff to grow. Some of their adaptations caused them to continue their migrations to new places.

Once they moved to parts of central Africa where the land was essentially rain forest and wasn't so plain and rain was plentiful, the Bantus adapted. Instead of cultivating more wheat and sorghum they switched to growing more root vegetables like potatoes and yam, which need lots of rain and not as much sun.

The Bantu Migration had an enormous impact on Africa's economic, cultural, and political practices. Bantu migrants introduced many new skills into the communities they interacted with, including sophisticated farming and industry. These skills included growing crops and forging tools and weapons from metal.

Where did African people settle and begin farming? The African people settled in the Sahara before it became a desert and farmed in the Nile Valley and West Africa or on the grass-lands.

During a wave of expansion that began 4,000 to 5,000 years ago, Bantu-speaking populations – today some 310 million people – gradually left their original homeland of West-Central Africa and traveled to the eastern and southern regions of the continent.

How did the Bantu speakers relate to the people they did not drive out? Similar language and cultures. What were some results of their intermingling? Cultural diffusion.
