What is Wage Parity? Wage Parity is a law that was initially passed in 2012. The purpose was to give home care workers additional compensation, which contributed to a higher living wage. The additional compensation can be in the form of salary, benefits, or a combination of both.

As of December 31, 2020, this is the breakdown of wages and benefits: New York City: $15.00/hr + $4.09/hour in wages and/or benefits. Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester: $14.00/hr + $3.22/hr in wages and/or benefits.

Minimum Wage in New York 2023 New York State's Minimum Wage raised $14.20 per hour, effective from December 31, 2022. However, the Federal Minimum Wage in New York State is $7.25, which is less than the NYS minimum wage. Hence employers are required to pay the higher state minimum wage to their employees.

Pay parity is the practice of paying people equitably. This means that those in the same job and location receive fair pay relative to each other regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, or any other identity.
