What does “Satisfactory Academic Progress” mean? These SAP standards include all terms of enrollment, whether or not aid was awarded or received. At TCC, these standards also apply to non-federal aid, including state grants, and Institutional and Educational Foundation scholarships.

SAP standards Cumulative GPA: Your cumulative GPA must be at least 2.0 (or higher, depending on your college). Maximum Attempted Credits (Timeframe): You are eligible to receive financial aid for 150% of the published degree credits required to complete your program.

Your appeal must be backed up by a degree worksheet or degree audit and an academic plan of work. You must also be able to show through your GPA calculation results that meeting SAP standards and graduating from your program is an attainable goal.

Example of SAP requirements You must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 if you're an undergraduate or 3.0 for graduate school students. You need to complete at least 2/3 of the attempted credits.

SAP standards require you to complete your coursework within the required timeframe while earning the minimum grade point average (GPA) or better. In other words, SAP is a broad measure of how well a student is performing in academics.

It could be a death certificate, a statement from a lawyer, a police or court document or documentation illustrating commitments outside of school. This is not a letter in support of being granted an appeal, this is documentation supporting your reason(s) given for failing SAP standards.

You will be notified via email if your submission is complete and has been forwarded to the Financial Aid SAP Committee for review. The committee typically makes its appeal decisions and notifies students within 10 business days of receipt; however, appeal processing can take longer during peak times between semesters.

This form is intended for students who have received a notification of financial aid suspension. Students who have not met the Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards can appeal to restore financial aid eligibility for future semesters.
