The Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) examination is a competency-based tool used to measure the possession, application, and interpretation of knowledge in the Eight Areas of Responsibility for Health Education Specialists delineated by the most current U.S.-based practice analysis study.

a Master's degree or higher with an academic transcript reflecting at least 25 semester credits (37 quarter hours) of course work in which the Eight Areas of Responsibility of Health Education Specialists were addressed.

Note: minimum eligibility is a Bachelor's degree. Associates degree-level coursework that has been accepted by a four-year or higher, degree-granting university can be counted toward eligibility for the CHES® exam.
