Form CH2 - Application to enter an obligation to make further advances.

Details. Use form CH2 to claim Child Benefit for up to 2 children. If you're claiming for more than 2 children, use form CH2 (CS).

Claiming Child Benefit You'll need to download the claim form, fill it in and post it to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) with your documents.

Child benefit is usually paid every four weeks into your bank account or post office card account. If you gave birth in hospital, you may have been given a child benefit application form. Otherwise, you can get a form from your local Jobcentre Plus or call the child benefit helpline on 0845 302 1444.

You can claim Child Benefit if: you're 'responsible for the child' the child is under 16 years old - or 16 to 20 years old and still in education or training.

HMRC have confirmed that you will be able to claim Child Benefit without a birth certificate. You must give evidence of your child, for example, a birth or adoption certificate. You should also give your national insurance number.

Only one person can receive Child Benefit for a child. If you or your partner already get Child Benefit, the same person normally claims for any new children. If you are bringing up children you may not be working or paying a National Insurance contribution.

The Department will send you a letter confirming your payment. If your child is not born in Ireland, or their birth is not registered within the required time (3 months), you must fill in Child Benefit (form CB1) (pdf). You must send this form (CB1) to the Child Benefit Section - see 'Where to apply' below.

Fill in Child Benefit form CH2 and send it to the Child Benefit Office. The address is on the form.
