Get Venturing Summit Award Application

To earn the Summit Rank, a Venturer must have participated in at least one Tier III adventure and served as a leader during one adventure.

The Venture Program is set up to help Scouts achieve this through leadership opportunities, giving back to the community, and personal growth. Unlike the Scouts BSA program, Venture Scouts don't work on merit badges, but we do have a similar advancement program.

Your application must be approved by your council advancement committee before you can work on alternative merit badges. A Scout, Venturer or a Sea Scout with a disability may continue to work toward rank advancement after their 18th birthday if they meet the guidelines in Section 10 of the Guide to Advancement.

Venturing - The Eagle Scout rank can be earned as a Venturer. The Scout must achieve the First Class rank in a traditional troop to continue the rest of the requirements in a Venturing crew. There are Venturing leadership positions that can be used to earn the Eagle rank.

Venturing has a distinct history as part of the BSA. After the old Exploring program was reorganized, Venturing was officially created by the BSA executive board on February 9, 1998, with a focus on outdoor-oriented posts.

It is important for Venturing and Sea Scout leaders to understand that Boy Scout advancement procedures must be followed. So eligible Venturers or Sea Scouts who are working on Boy Scout advancement (but not Venturers or Sea Scouts who are not doing so) may earn and be awarded merit badges.

Can a Venturer or Sea Scout earn the Eagle Scout award? Yes. Any youth (boy or girl) who earns First Class rank in Scouts BSA may transfer primary membership to Venturing or Sea Scouts and continue to work on Eagle Scout requirements. From the upcoming 2019 Guide to Advancement (4.3.

A Venture crew is the same as a Boy Scouts troop, but with a larger focus on high-adventure activities, first aid, and leadership training. It is only one of two co-ed scouting programs, and since Venturing crews are typically smaller, Venturers also do more personal events, like a game night or bowling.
