If you qualify for CalWORKs, you'll get a monthly cash benefit for up to 60 months, as long as you continue to qualify and meet the Welfare-to-Work requirements explained on the next page (children continue to receive cash aid after the 60-month limit). Note: The 60-month limit is a lifetime limit.

The Welfare-to-Work Program can pay for the cost of approved education or training program, books and supplies, transportation, and child care costs. Once the training is completed, additional support is made available to you to find a job in that field.

Good Cause Notifications The Good Cause Reports serve only as a method for the reporting party to notify the District Attorney's Office that they have a good faith and reasonable belief that their child will suffer immediate harm if left with the other parent.

One of those responsibilities is that you will attend and participate in your Welfare-to-Work assignment. If you don't do what you agree to do, there are consequences. You can lose your cash aid.

If your aid was cut for not participating (called a 'sanction'), these new rules may allow you to get more cash aid by ending your sanction. If you are sanctioned, please contact your worker right away to see if these new rules may end your sanction and give you more cash aid.

(d) “Good cause” means a substantial reason, taking into account the prejudice or irreparable harm a party will suffer if a hearing is not held on an objection or not held within the time periods established by this chapter.

The good cause determination is an important part of the noncompliance process. It provides an opportunity for you and the recipient to present information relevant to the issue of nonparticipation and can often lead to resumed participation and the avoidance of losing cash aid.

The Welfare-to-Work (WTW) Program is a comprehensive Employment and Training Program designed to promote self-sufficiency. CalWORKs recipients are assessed to determine the best course of action, whether it is immediate placement into a job, placement into an education or training program, or both.

You will not be required to participate in the Welfare-to-Work program and your Welfare-to-Work 24-Month Time Clock will stop if any of the reasons below apply to you. You are under 16 years old. You are 16, 17, or 18 years old and in high school or adult school. You are 60 years or older.
