You must be vested and be at least age 55 (or age 50 if you have protective category service). You must terminate all WRS-covered employment. You must not be on a leave of absence or in layoff status.

Annuity Adjustments Payments may increase or decrease based on Core Trust Fund and Variable Trust Fund investment returns. The adjustments are applied to the May 1 payment. In late April, ETF will send an annuity statement showing how much the payment will change.

Once a WRS annuitant returns to work, they cannot work more than 880 hours in a rolling twelve months. If this is exceeded, they must stop their annuity payments and start contributing to WRS.

WRS covers 257,254 active employees, including 98,532 employees of public educational institutions, as well as 167,453 retired employees and beneficiaries. Employees contribute 5.8% out of each of their paychecks to the pension fund. The average retirement benefit is $24,989 per year, or $2,082 per month.

The WRS is among the best funded and best managed public pension systems in the country. With some $142 billion in assets, it is the 8th largest U.S. public pension fund. Approximately 663,000 individuals participate in the WRS. The WRS is a hybrid defined benefit plan.

Trading Hours: ETF options will trade the same hours as the underlying ETF. For most ETFs, this is 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. For certain broad-based ETFs, 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET.

If you first began WRS employment on or after July 1, 2011, then you must have 5 years of WRS creditable service. 1 year of creditable service is based on the hours you work.
