Can my child fly alone? Children under 5 years of age cannot fly unaccompanied. Children between the ages of 5 and 11 may only travel unaccompanied if you book our service for​Unaccompanied minors (UM service) or if accompanied by someone who is at least 12 years of age.

Any persons under 18 travelling without their parents or guardian are required to present an international travel permission declaration form signed by their father, mother or guardian at the check-in desks.

The service is mandatory for children ages 5-12 traveling without an adult. Children ages 13-18 years are not required to travel as unaccompanied minors, but the service is optional for this age group as well. Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to travel unless accompanied by an adult.

Tickets and seats for children Newborns less than a week old need to have a doctor's certificate stating that they are fit to fly. In case an infant turns 2 between the outbound- and inbound journey of a ticket, a child ticket has to be issued for the entire itinerary.

Some airlines permit this for kids as young as 12. When a child has reached this minimum age for traveling alone without unaccompanied-minor procedures, the airline does not require evidence of parental permission to travel alone. If the child has a passport, he or she can even travel internationally.
