Later, Maslach and Jackson in 1986 extended the concept of burnout also to inbred aspects of human service work, as the emotional demand [3]. The CBI was introduced by Krinstensen et al. and validated during the Danish longitudinal study PUMA of burnout in employees in the human service sector started in 1997.

The basic structure of the CBI The result was the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI), a questionnaire with three sub-dimensions: Personal burnout, work-related burnout, and client-related burnout. ... The work-related burnout questions assume that the respondent has paid work of some kind.

Burnout syndrome is most commonly measured with the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HS). The MBI-HS is a 22-item self-report questionnaire that consists of three independently scored dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and a lack of personal accomplishment).

To calculate your score on the burnout syndrome test, count the number of times you answered 'c', and then subtract the number of times you answered 'a'. If the resulting number is above zero, then you may be beginning to feel the effects of prolonged stress at work or in your family life.
