Follow the steps to complete your employer registration form.
- Click ‘Get Form’ button to obtain the form and open it in the editor.
- Enter your IRD number in the designated field. This is an eight-digit number that begins in the second box. If you do not possess an IRD number, ensure you complete and attach the IRD number application form (IR 595 or IR 596) with your registration.
- Print the full name of the person or entity registering, which could be a partnership, trust, society, or the registered name of the company. Avoid listing any trade names.
- If your trade name is different from the name you provided in the previous step, print it in the corresponding field.
- Provide the employer's place of business address. Record the street address, suburb, or rural delivery (RD) number, but do not include a box number.
- If your postal address differs from your business address, print the postal address. Include the street address or PO Box number, suburb, box lobby, or RD, along with the town or city.
- Input your contact telephone numbers, including a business number, mobile phone number, or after-hours contact, and fax number if applicable.
- Provide your email address, which will be used to register you for online updates and newsletters. You'll have the option to opt out later.
- Indicate when you will begin employing staff by inputting the day, month, and year. This date marks your registration as an employer.
- Supply your Business Industry Classification (BIC) code by providing both a business description and the corresponding number. You can access this information on the Business Industry Description and Code website.
- Print the total number of employees, including contractors receiving schedular payments.
- Answer whether any of your employees will have a student loan by selecting ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’
- Indicate if you will be providing fringe benefits to your employees by checking ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ If ‘Yes,’ proceed to Question 13.
- If you answered ‘Yes’ to Question 12 or did not answer either, you will automatically receive quarterly fringe benefit tax (FBT) returns unless specified otherwise. Choose your preferred filing option from the provided selections.
- Acknowledge your employer responsibilities, such as keeping wage records and making deductions from employee wages. Answer the questions about your experience with PAYE tasks in New Zealand.
- Print the full name of the contact person for this registration, along with their telephone number(s), in case further questions arise.
- Read the declaration section, then sign and date the form to confirm the accuracy of the information provided.
