The Office of the Chief Judge is located on the 4th Floor of the Will County Courthouse, 14 W. Jefferson Street, Room 439, Joliet, IL 60432. The Chief Judge is elected by the Circuit Judges for the purpose of overseeing the many administrative functions of the Judicial Branch.

You must have been married for less than eight (8) years and either you or your spouse (or both) must have lived in the State of Illinois and County of Will for at least ninety (90) days immediately prior to filing for the dissolution.

How to Apply: Start your marriage application online. Upon completing the application, both parties MUST then appear at the DuPage County Clerk's office, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187 and present proof of age and proper identification and a license fee of $35.00.

To file an appearance: Appearance forms are available at the Circuit Clerk's office. This form must be completed and filed at the counter along with the required filing fee. The Clerk's Office may advise you of the necessary fee by calling the general information number at (815) 727-8592.
