Pennsylvania Rule of Civil Procedure No. 236 requires that the Prothonotary give immediate written notice of the entry of an Order, Decree or Judgment as provided in the Rule. In the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, notice as required by Pa. R.C.P.

IMPORTANT NOTICE. You are in default because you have failed to enter a written appearance personally or by attorney and file in writing with the Court your defenses or objections to the claims set forth against you.

The Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure set forth very specific requirements when filing a complaint. For example, the complaint must contain the original or a copy of the contract or instrument with the confession of judgment language along with the other party's signature to the contract.

You send this notice 10 days in advance when you intend to take judgment by default upon an opposing party due to that party's failure to file an answer or preliminary objections to the complaint within the required time frame.

YOU ARE IN DEFAULT BECAUSE YOU HAVE FAILED TO FILE A COMPLAINT IN THIS CASE. UNLESS YOU ACT WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THIS NOTICE, A JUDGMENT MAY BE ENTERED AGAINST YOU WITHOUT A HEARING AND YOU MAY LOSE YOUR RIGHT TO SUE THE DEFENDANT AND THEREBY LOSE PROPERTY OR OTHER IMPORTANT RIGHTS.

If a complaint is not filed within twenty days after service of the rule, the prothonotary, upon praecipe of the defendant, shall enter a judgment of non pros.
