Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.

The training certificate is valid for 2 years. Boy Scouts of America has now made the NEW Hazardous Weather Training mandatory for all direct contact leaders. This change also affected basic position-specific leader training for: Cub Scouting (Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader)

The Annual BSA Health and Medical Record is valid for 12 CALENDAR MONTHS FOR ALL LEADERS AND SCOUTS. All medical forms must be valid through your stay at camp. *Please Note if your form expires halfway through your week at camp, you must get an updated physical prior to your arrival.

The Scouting program has specific objectives, commonly referred to as the Aims of Scouting. They are character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Leadership development is also one of Scoutings eight methods contributing to both good character and good citizenship.

To stay current, the new course (SCO_800) will need to be taken after WS81 is two years old. We recommend if you have not taken the updated course (SCO_800) that you do so to have the most current content. Also, Hazardous Weather like Youth Protection Training expires every two years.

Den leaders, pack leaders, and parents are expected to accompany the youth on approved trips. All youth registered in troops are eligible to participate in troop or patrol overnight campouts, camporees, and resident camps.

The methods of Cub Scouting are: living the ideals, belonging to a den, advancement, family involvement, activities, serving the community, and the uniform.

In special circumstances, a Cub Scout whose parent or legal guardian is not able to attend an overnight camping trip may participate under the supervision of another registered adult member of the BSA who is a parent of a Cub Scout who is also attending.
