A rapid response team is a group of clinicians that nurses and other hospital staff can call upon at any time to provide critical care expertise at the bedside of a patient whose condition is deteriorating.

The Rapid Response Team known by some as the Medical Emergency Team is a team of clinicians who bring critical care expertise to the bedside. Simply put, the purpose of the Rapid Response Team is to bring critical care expertise to the patient bedside (or wherever it's needed).

The rapid response system is a lifeline that can provide significant reassurance for patients and families in the hospital. Family members are likely to have a continuous presence at the bedside of a hospitalized patient, and are often the first to recognize changes in a patient's condition.

A rapid response team is a group of clinicians that nurses and other hospital staff can call upon at any time to provide critical care expertise at the bedside of a patient whose condition is deteriorating.

A Rapid Response Team is a group of nurses and doctors who are trained to help when there are signs that a patient is getting much sicker. The purpose of a rapid response team is to help before there is a medical emergency such as a heart attack. Rapid response teams take action very quickly when something goes wrong.

Study: Rapid response teams work best with dedicated staff, autonomy. A recent study out of the University of Iowa's Carver College of Medicine looked at how rapid response teams (RRTs) performed during an in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) at top hospitals.

Within minutes, a rapid response team arrives at the bedside to assess the patient and provide emergency care if needed. Typically within a half hour, either the crisis is resolved in the unit or the patient is transferred to an intensive care unit (ICU) or monitored bed.

The clear difference is that a rapid response is for the prevention of serious injury, cardiac arrest, and respiratory arrest, and a code blue is called for a person who has stopped breathing, or who does not have a heart beat, with the goal of resuscitation.
