GRAMA stands for Government Records Access and Management Act. The legislative intent of GRAMA is to balance the public's right to access public records with the individual's right of privacy in relation to those records.

The request must be in writing and must include the requester's name, address, telephone number (if available), and a specific description of the records(s) requested (Utah Code Section 63G-2-204(1))....A request can be filed in one of five ways: Open Records Portal. Email. Fax. U.S. mail. In person.

The Government Records Access and Management Act (“GRAMA”) is a Utah law that provides the public with the right to access certain “records” prepared, maintained or controlled by a government entity.

WHAT IS A GRAMA REQUEST? The Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) provides every person the right to request records from any governmental entity in Utah (Utah Code Section 63G-2-201(1)).

A GRAMA request is a written request containing the person's name, address, daytime phone number, and a description that identifies the requested record with reasonable specificity.

Requesting Individual Records and Data Utah's government records law, GRAMA, allows 10 business days to respond to a request for records. A request may be responded to in 5 business days if the request qualifies for an expedited response. All requests are processed in the order they are received.
